Jonah Goldberg: Media can go to hell

August 2, 2011 Leave a comment

Goldberg is pissed, as well he should be, and I agree 100% with his column.

The new tone in Washington that Democrats lamented for in the wake of the Giffords shooting in January, was and always will be nonsense because liberals and their enablers in the national media are liars and hypocrites.

Bachmann’s migraine “problem”

July 21, 2011 Leave a comment

It doesn’t get much dumber than this.  Caught this screenshot last night off of the WaPo website.  Idiocy on parade:

This is from a  “serious” political pundit, people us rubes need to really listen to and take seriously when it comes to politics in Washington.  Apparently forcing a conservative Republican woman to release a doctor’s note confirming she has migraines, and that said migraines might negate her ability to be President are of paramount concern to our media overlords.

When you want to see Obama’s birth certificate however, or ask questions about his past drug use, well then clearly we need to STFU because we’re all racists.

Fat, white and male liberal talk-show host from MSNBC on Laura Ingraham: “She’s a right-wing slut”

May 25, 2011 Leave a comment

Behold, the new civility:

The transcript:

“And what do the Republicans thinking about?” Schultz said. “They’re not thinking about their next-door neighbor. They’re just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what they’re talking about, like this right-wing slut, what’s her name?, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she’s a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama’s doing it, they’re working him over.”

Lean forward, MSNBC, lean forward.

UPDATE.   Stacy McCain is listening for feminist outrage, but alas, there is none to be heard.   Yentas.

The left and Osama bin Laden

So let me get this straight.

The Professional Left, the morons in the media, idiots like Keith Olbermann and Ed Schultz and the rest, and all the other pearl-clutchers now APPROVE of waterboarding brown people at a military detention center outside of US legal jurisdiction, in order to gain information for clandestine raids into countries with which the USA is not at war to kill people without trial?

Do I have this right?

Because it seems that the same people who wanted to string Bush/Cheney up for “war crimes” not even three years ago, are now claiming that Obama is a virtuous patriot and fearless leader.

The word for this is “astroturfing”

Democratic party operatives are planning protests, with the hopes of copying the energy and exuberance of the Tea Party movement that gained momentum during the summer of 2009, and the Obamacare town-hall debates:

Working with labor unions and liberal groups, they are using the Presidents Day congressional recess to organize a public backlash against billions of dollars in cuts to federal programs.

One labor organizer said that members have been urged to attend congressional town hall meetings to ask Republican lawmakers “pointed questions” about the cuts they supported last week.

“We are targeting various House Republicans in town hall meetings during the recess to let them know these budget cuts are beyond the pale,” said the labor source, who added that it has been difficult to mobilize supporters to public question-and-answer sessions with lawmakers because “they’ve been pretty circumspect in giving out information about the meetings.”

Justin Ruben, the executive director of MoveOn.org, a progressive advocacy group, has also encouraged members to grill lawmakers at town hall meetings.

“Whenever we hear about a town hall meeting we encourage them to go and ask pointed questions about what is happening,” he said.

This is interesting.  Is the general public really supposed to know that radical front groups financed by wealthy, foreign individuals are behind these protests?  I thought that was a myth of the right-wing propaganda machine?

And I was under the assumption that political operations funded from “outside” sources was a detriment to the public discourse on the issues.

Once again, a story the political commentariat should be pointing out on their cable news shows, but won’t.

UPDATE. A warning, via Weasel Zippers:

Things are about to get ugly in America my friends. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what will happen when the leftists try to storm town halls packed with tea partiers.

Hollywood is as white as MSNBC

February 13, 2011 Leave a comment

The New York Times laments the predominant whiteness of today’s morally superior Hollywood:

CRAMMED into this year’s field of 10 best picture Oscar nominees are British aristocrats, Volvo-driving Los Angeles lesbians, a flock of swans, a gaggle of Harvard computer geeks, clans of Massachusetts fighters and Missouri meth dealers, as well as 19th-century bounty hunters, dream detectives and animated toys. It’s a fairly diverse selection in terms of genre, topic, sensibility, style and ambition.

But it’s also more racially homogenous — more white — than the 10 films that were up for best picture in 1940, when Hattie McDaniel became the first black American to win an Oscar for her role as Mammy in “Gone With the Wind.” In view of recent history the whiteness of the 2011 Academy Awards is a little blinding.

Why does Hollywood hate black America so much?  And when will our media overseers and hate-watchers in the liberal blogosphere issue their proclamations of racism?

Speaking for me as well

A single post by Don Surber encapsulates what I’ve been feeling about the Left’s reaction to the Tuscon massacre:

Last week, the left quickly blamed the right for the national tragedy of a shooting spree by a madman who never watched Fox News, never listened to Rush Limbaugh and likely did not know who Sarah Palin is.

Fortunately, the American public rejected out of hand that idiotic notion that the right was responsible.

Rather than apologize, the left wants to change the tone of the political debate.

The left suddenly wants civil discourse.

Bite me.

The left wants to play games of semantics.

Bite me.

The left wants us to be civil — after being so uncivil for a decade.

Bite me.

Be sure to read the entire post.

Foreign Policy of Me

November 20, 2010 Leave a comment

This Washington Post article is about the mess that is Obama’s foreign policy, but this excerpt pretty much encapsulates his approach to policy in general:

“He assumed that because he was liked so clearly and overwhelmingly he could merely assert what he wanted to achieve and people would follow,” said Simon Serfaty, a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “Clearly enough, the world that he imagined proved to be different than the world as it is.”

Pundits like to talk of “experience” when vetting Presidential candidates.  Unfortunately for us, the self-proclaimed watchdogs in our national media failed to even look at the glaring lack of experience of then Senator Barack Obama, not to mention his radical past, while getting all tingly up the leg, and such.  The left just grinned and turned their heads.

Now we are seeing results of his incompetency.  Barack Obama served (effectively) two terms in the Illinois State Senate, and about two-thirds of his only stint as US Senator, while two years of his time in the latter was spent campaigning for the Presidency.  Throughout his entire political life, he surrounded himself with sycophants, while eating up all the baseless adulation and pre-conceived narratives of “aspirations” in the Democrat party.  In other words, no meaningful experience to speak of.

Any wonder why US foreign policy under Barack Obama is questionable, at best?

Olbermann back on MSNBC tomorrow

November 8, 2010 Leave a comment

This big ado about Keith Olbermann being suspended from and, now reinstated to, his show on MSNBC is something I generally consider a non-story.  I mean, really…political donations to liberal politicians?  Is anyone really surprised that Keith Olbermann is a political hack?

MSNBC made a big stink about it (Olbermann apparently broke some in-house rules about such donations) and now–not so much of a stink.  I’m not a fan of Olbermann, but the geniuses at MSNBC look like real buffoons right about now.

Dems use anonymous “front” groups too

November 1, 2010 Leave a comment

But we already knew that didn’t we?

While President Obama and other Democrats have excoriated Republican “front groups” for using secret money to pay for attack ads, the party’s political committees have begun doing something similar: collecting cash from outside nonprofit groups that don’t disclose their contributors and using the money to pay for negative campaign commercials, campaign records show.

One group, Patriot Majority PAC — a Democratic political committee that has run a hard-hitting $1.7 million attack ad campaign against Sharron Angle, the Republican candidate for Harry Reid’s Senate seat in Nevada — has gotten one of its largest donations, $250,000, from a liberal nonprofit that doesn’t release the names of any of its contributors, the records show.

Another newly formed political committee, America’s Families First Action Fund, which is running negative commercials against Republicans in House races across the country, recently got $1 million from a closely related nonprofit affiliate, the records show. Both organizations were set up over the summer by Democratic strategists, who emphasized in a memo to donors that contributions to the nonprofit could be kept anonymous.

Another left-wing, echo-chamber talking point.  Down in flames.
