Well, not really.  More like a middle-aged Muslim man verbally abusing an elderly non-Muslim woman on a train in Denmark for…um, “destroying” his bike:

As others on the train defend the woman, the Muslim douchebag starts bloviating about his “rights” and how the woman should respect him.  Radical Islamofascism personified.

The Professional Left, the morons in the media, idiots like Keith Olbermann and Ed Schultz and the rest, and all the other pearl-clutchers now APPROVE of waterboarding brown people at a military detention center outside of US legal jurisdiction, in order to gain information for clandestine raids into countries with which the USA is not at war to kill people without trial?

Do I have this right?

Because it seems that the same people who wanted to string Bush/Cheney up for “war crimes” not even three years ago, are now claiming that Obama is a virtuous patriot and fearless leader.

“Qaddafi has better weapons”

France and England are making noise about bombing Libya and/or establishing a no-fly zone, respectively.  Both countries want “action” in North Africa, but there’s a lot of hand-wringing as to what that action will be.   One thing is clear, though.  The EU has spoken:

An EU summit call today for Gaddafi to “relinquish power immediately” is seen as vital for helping to win support from Arab League meeting of foreign ministers on Saturday.  [...]

William Hague, the foreign secretary said that Britain was happy to talk to the council, but stopped well short of recognition. A letter written by Mr Hague yesterday urged the EU to strip Gaddafi of diplomatic recognition.

“The EU and its member states will not work or co-operate with Gaddafi [and should] support the suspension of Gaddafi’s sovereign immunity, removing from him the protection enjoyed by heads of state,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, it’s becoming apparent that the rebels’ inexperience and lack of weaponry appears to be making all the difference as Libya explodes into civil war:

“We have God on our side and a just cause, but Qaddafi has better weapons,” says Sarhan Khaled, a 34-year-old businessman who has been fighting just west of the oil town of Ras Lanuf for the past four days. “We’ll fight either way, but we’d like the international community to stop his planes.”

This afternoon NATO is considering a no-fly zone to protect the uprising – something the rebels have been begging for – and economic sanctions have been heaped on Qaddafi and his associates. [...]

[E]vents today show that consideration of further moves could soon become moot.

Late Thursday afternoon some of the largely civilian militia at the forefront of the uprising against Qaddafi’s 41-year reign started to withdraw from Ras Lanuf after a withering assault by mortars, rocket fire, and warplanes over the past two days.

After pummeling the rebel positions from the air, forces loyal to Qaddafi maneuvered in the desert south of the lightly armed rebels, who are generally visible in large clusters along the highway, to attack them from their flank. As of this writing, the town appeared to remain in rebel hands, albeit shakily.

Today’s assault, to be sure, involved far more than planes. Though the rebels have rockets, they have had difficulty locating Qaddafi’s forces and are generally unskilled operators. That means that Qaddafi’s forces have been able to rain mortars and rockets on the area with little fear of reprisals.

Does anyone else think that the EU’s chest-thumping is falling on deaf ears?  Does anyone believe that Qaddafi is taking them seriously?  I’m trying to think otherwise, but there’s really no convincing information to the contrary.

America’s moral stature has turned to crap, Gitmo edition

That’s the only logical conclusion one can come to after reading this:

President Barack Obama approved Monday the resumption of military trials for detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, ending a two-year ban.

It was the latest acknowledgement that the detention facility Obama had vowed to shut down within a year of taking office will remain open for some time to come. But even while announcing a resumption of military commission trials, Obama reaffirmed his support for trying terror suspects in U.S. federal courts – something that’s met vehement resistance on Capitol Hill.

In light of this:

So based on that, our moral compass is down the toilet, as per President Obama’s standards.  Which is to say, no standards at all.

Clearly this is a political move, part of the administrations slow creep to the center ahead of next years elections.  Of course, it’s a good thing that Gitmo remains open for business.  The political benefits of trying to close the prison did not materialize for the President however, and he continues to use the professional left as his own personal punching bag.

German authorities say Frankfurt killer may have terrorist ties

German investigators have all but acknowledged that this was an act of terrorism:

SPIEGEL ONLINE has learned from sources in German security forces and from the US authorities that there is now substantial evidence linking the attacker to Islamist groups in Germany. In the US, there are fears that the man could be part of a terrorist cell which may now be planning further attacks on American targets in Germany. Sources in the Pentagon expressed great concern about the incident.

On Thursday morning, Germany’s Federal Prosecutor General, the country’s highest investigative authority, took over the investigation. The office is responsible for terrorist attacks, meaning that there is no longer any doubt that the authorities suspect a terrorist motive behind the incident. [...]

As the motto of his Facebook page, Arid U. has selected a saying by the Muslim conqueror Khalid bin Al Walid, a contemporary of the Prophet Muhammad: “May the eyes of the cowards never sleep.” Among the websites that the man lists as his favorites are some that have clear Islamist leanings, including one called “Rule of Islam.” On his Facebook “wall,” he has linked to a jihadist fighting song, and one of the comments on a friend’s posting refers to “these miserable kuffar (infidels).”

The Obama administration remains silent.

The Frankfurt killings were an act of terrorism, Mr. President

Earlier this week, Rajb Karim, a Muslim working in the IT department at British Airways, was found guilty for plotting to blow up airplanes en route to the United States.  Reports indicated that he was a disciple of the radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, and that he supplied the cleric with information available from his job.

From the story reported in the Guardian:

Jonathan Laidlaw QC, prosecuting, said of Karim: “He is … an Islamic extremist, with close association to, if not membership of Jamaat ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, an organisation committed to the establishment of Islamic rule in Bangladesh, responsible for terrorist attacks in Bangladesh, and with links to al-Qaida. The defendant … believes terrorism, including murder of civilians, is permissible to establish, as he views it, a true Islamic state. [He] was anxious himself to carry out such an attack and determined to seek martyrdom.”

In February last year Awlaki wrote to Karim: “Our highest priority is the US. Anything there, even on a smaller scale compared to what we may do in the UK would be our choice. So the question is with the people you have is it possible to get a package or a person with a package on board a flight heading to the US?”

I’m bringing this up in light of today’s killing of two United States airmen in a military bus in Frankfurt.  The troops were on their way to Afghanistan, and the killer had an interesting choice of words:

When he opened fire, the gunman, identified as a long-term resident of Germany, shouted “Allahu Akbar,” according to sources. He fired nine times, killling two and critically wounding two others before the gun jammed and he was subdued by other passengers. While being wrestled into submission, the suspect shouted either “Jihad Jihad” or “Allahu Akbar,” sources said

Let’s not jump to any conclusions as to what this man’s motives were, however.  

From the New York Times:

An American military official, speaking on ground rules of anonymity, said that the United States was not ruling out terrorism, although it was unclear if the suspect was acting alone or with partners. “I don’t know if he’s tied to a group,” said the official. “But there is enough information at this point to indicate that he identifies with Islamist terrorist ideology.”

As the first story points out quite clearly, these extremists want us dead because we’re Americans.  They make it quite clear, that this is their intent.  They. Want. To. Kill. Us. 

These are pure acts of terrorism.  There’s no difference between what happened in Frankfurt and what happened in Fort Hood.  And unfortunately, there probably won’t be any distinction in the Obama administration’s reaction to today’s events.

Ignoring the fact that radical Muslim extremists are a significant part of the problem, or playing nice with them by not using terms like “Islamic terrorism”, or giving grandiose speeches in Cairo, will not abate their hunger for American blood.  They are what they are.

Columbia University on the front lines of douchebaggery

Columbia University students heckled a war hero during a town-hall meeting on whether ROTC should be allowed back on campus.

“Racist!” some students yelled at Anthony Maschek, a Columbia freshman and former Army staff sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times in a firefight in northern Iraq in February 2008. Others hissed and booed the veteran.

Maschek, 28, had bravely stepped up to the mike Tuesday at the meeting to issue an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.

“It doesn’t matter how you feel about the war. It doesn’t matter how you feel about fighting,” said Maschek. “There are bad men out there plotting to kill you.”

Columbia, as expected, remains a rancid incubator of extreme left-wing idiocy, fully paid for by the parents of these upper class brats, posing as students.  Remember that this is the same Ivy League institution which, not too long ago, admitted that it wouldn’t mind none other than Hitler himself come to its campus for a chat.

Bloopers, foreign policy edition

Yesterday was not a good day on the foreign policy front.  Idiocy and incompetence smart power were on display for all the world to see:

[T]he mistakes Thursday were of a [...] serious variety.  The worst of them was CIA Director Leon Panetta’s absolutely inexcusable and shockingly atypical decision to announce to the Congress that in his view Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak would likely be out of office by midnight. Obviously, the agency was feeling the heat because it had failed to call the uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, and elsewhere in the one region of the world to which the most agency assets are (likely) directed. So it made the classic error of overcompensating for the past failure to predict event… by predicting one that didn’t actually happen.

This was a lose-lose idea. Had Panetta been right, how would it have looked if the CIA had actually been the first entity to announce Mubarak’s departure? Might it have fueled perceptions that the United States was pulling the strings behind the scenes in Cairo, that Suleiman was the CIA’s guy? (Not exactly a big stretch to begin with.) Who thought it was appropriate that the U.S. ought to get in front of Egypt’s story?

The answer, one has to assume, is someone in the White House. It is hard to imagine that on this issue this administration would let its CIA Director make public remarks to the Congress without vetting them beforehand.

Which brings us to the other two major statements made by the White House on Thursday.

The first of these involved President Obama’s rather breathless assertion that we were watching history unfold in Egypt and also implying that soon Mubarak would be stepping down. Once again, who was it that suggested to the president that it was in his interest…or America’s… for him to be the warm-up act for the Egyptian president’s expected big exit.

It was the kind of decision that was a sure sign that the president was spending more time listening to political and press advisors than he was seasoned foreign policy professionals.

In 2008, many of us had said that electing a narcissistic and inexperienced,  liberal ideologue from Chicago as President was a bad idea from the beginning.  But who are we to make judgments?   Obama was a “fresh” face, he was young, gave a good speech and more importantly to our media overlords, he was liberal and wasn’t George W. Bush.  But hey, any inexperience in the foreign policy department would be more than compensated for with Joe Biden as Veep.  That’s worked out  great, hasn’t it?

Religion of peace:

The FBI thwarted an attempted terrorist bombing in Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square before the city’s annual tree-lighting Friday night, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Oregon.

A Corvallis man, thinking he was going to ignite a bomb, drove a van to the corner of the square at Southwest Yamhill Street and Sixth Avenue and attempted to detonate it.

However, the supposed explosive was a dummy that FBI operatives supplied to him, according to an affidavit in support of a criminal complaint signed Friday night by U.S. Magistrate Judge John V. Acosta.

Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, a Somali-born U.S. citizen, was arrested at 5:42 p.m., 18 minutes before the tree lighting was to occur, on an accusation of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The arrest was the culmination of a long-term undercover operation, during which Mohamud had been monitored for months as his alleged bomb plot developed.

More Islamofascist tolerance:

The FBI operatives cautioned Mohamud several times about the seriousness of his plan, noting that there would be many people, including children, at the event, and that Mohamud could abandon his plans at any time with no shame.

“You know there’s going to be a lot of children there?” an FBI operative asked Mohamud. “You know there are gonna be a lot of children there?”

Mohamud allegedly responded he was looking for a “huge mass that will … be attacked in their own element with their families celebrating the holidays.”

Mohamud dismissed concerns about law enforcement, explaining that, ” … It’s in Oregon; and Oregon, like, you know, nobody ever thinks about,” according to the affidavit.

“The threat was very real,” said Oregon’s FBI Special Agent in Charge Arthur Balizan. “Our investigation shows that Mohamud was absolutely committed to carrying out an attack on a very grand scale. At the same time, I want to reassure the people of this community that, every turn, we denied him the ability to actually carry out the attack.”

But, hey, we’re not at war with this vermin right?
