Loretta Sanchez: Hey, let me have Gabrielle Gifford’s seat on the HASC

The new civility, brought to you by the always civil and respectful Democrats:

Behind closed doors, California Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez has proposed removing Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords from the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) until she recovers from injuries sustained after being shot in the head on Jan. 8 in Tucson, The Daily Caller has learned.

The proposal sparked an outrage, according to those in the room — including from those in Sanchez’s own party.

“It’s not appropriate,” Texas Democratic Rep. Silvestre Reyes told The Daily Caller, adding that there was outrage among some members in the room when Sanchez made the suggestion. “It’s bad for morale during her recovery period.”

Stay classy, Democrats.

Obviously there’s no accounting for taste nor decency in the Democratic caucus these days.  This is from the same woman who warned of charlie in the hills “Vietnamese” possibly taking over her congressional seat during the campaign–you know, by the democratic ballot process and all.

I hope Orange County CA is so proud of themselves for sending this woman back to Congress.

Before you post inarticulate libel, do a little research. Sanchez is already more senior on HASC that Giffords. She was not looking to take her seat because Sanchez has a better one. Instead, she was asking for a temporary replacement to have as many Democratic votes as possible when Republicans start holding votes to spend more tax dollars on Cold War defense programs.

All reports indicate that Sanchez wanted Giffords off the committee, not for a “temporary replacement”, as you’re saying. And if you have an issue with that, talk to the other Democrats quickly put Sanchez in her place about such a decision.

The Daily Caller article you cite references the replacement as being a proxy. Sounds pretty temporary to me. The only quoted party at the meeting was Reyes who did not say she asked for a permanent replacement. The first paragraph of the article even references the situation as “removing Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords from the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) until she recovers from injuries sustained after being shot in the head”.

I can read rather than jump to absurd conclusions. Obviously, I do not have adequate skills to be a blogger.

It’s a classless move. I wouldn’t expect anything more from these people. Sanchez isn’t exactly the brightest bulb on the Democrat tree.
